Waqf Board CEO Md Asadullah: High Court Suspends Removal Order

The decision came as part of an appeal heard in the month of September, with the bench delivered its verdict today.

The case revolved around the eligibility of Md Asadullah, who serves as a Additional Collector / Joint Collector, to hold the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Telangana Waqf Board.

A petitioner had earlier challenged his appointment, arguing that his service category did not align with the eligibility criteria for the post.

Following the petition, a single-judge bench of the High Court had earlier ordered the state government to remove Asadullah from the position.

The state subsequently appealed this decision, prompting the division bench to review and stay the earlier order, pending further proceedings.

Waqf Board CEO: Legal concerns over Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025

The situation has been further complicated by the ongoing legal scrutiny of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, which has raised questions about its implementation in Telangana.

Legal experts and community representatives have expressed concerns that the new provisions could alter the administrative framework and autonomy of the Waqf Board.

As the court proceedings continue, all eyes are now on how the ruling could shape both the future of the Waqf Board’s leadership and the broader implications of the amended Act in the state.

Verdict copy is still awaited.
