Watch: 330 pilgrims selected of Haj 2017 from Telangana

Hyderabad, March 18 (Maxim News): Computerised Draw of lots (Qurrah) for selection of 330 Haj pilgrims from among 17,564 General category applicants from Telangana State was held here this morning at Haj House, Nampally.

A. K. Khan, Advisor to Government, Minorities Welfare Department inaugurated the Draw, while Syed Omer Jaleel, Secretary to Government Minorities Welfare was the Chief Guest.

A K Khan said that every facility would be provided to the Haj pilgrims. He said that every year 10 to 15% Pilgrims cancel their journey and their seats are allotted to the pilgrims of Waiting List. He said that the list of the selected pilgrims would be posted on the website of the Telangana State Haj Committee besides the Haj Committee of India website. He further said that those who were not selected for Haj should take precautions before selecting a Private Haj Tour Operators and verify his credentials.

Syed Omer Jaleel said that he had got the opportunity to serve the Haj pilgrims in various capacities. He said that the Haj is a pious practice and an obligation on Muslims.

Prof. S. A. Shukoor, Special Officer, Telangana State Haj Committee in his report said that the Haj Committee allocated a Haj quota of 3367 seats for Telangana state. As many as 3037 applicants under two reserved categories were selected for Haj 2017 he said and added that Qurrah was held for selection of remaining 330 seats. (Maxim News)
