Annual Crime Review using CCTNS in Kamareddy

Kamareddy, Feb 6 (Maxim News): Recently, Telangana Police won the DG, NCRB running trophy for empowering police with Information and Technology.

Taking forward the same momentum to achieve the objective of prestigious CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Networking System) project, on Monday for the first time in Telangana, Annual Crime Review was conducted using CCTNS data for the newly created district of Kamareddy.

DIG Hyderabad, HFAC of Nizamabad Range, Akun Sabharwal, has reviewed various crimes reported in the district for the year 2016. As all the data since 2009 was readily available in the system, crime patters for five year and three year periods were analyzed by Akun Sabharwal.

As dynamic and real-time crime review has become a reality after launching CCTNS to its full scale in Telangana, Kamareddy is the first district where the system was put to its best use where daily and monthly reviews are taking place using CCTNS.

Crime Analytics and various reports generated in CCTNS under various heads of crime gave a glimpse of crime patterns in the district, such as reducing of fatal road accidents over a period of time and slight increase in economic offences etc. As stage of the cases and progress in investigations can also be monitored using the system, it has enabled supervisory officers to give relevant instructions to SHOs to improve policing in their respective jurisdiction from the point of view of Crime Prevention and Crime Detection. CCTNS has definitely become an empowering tool in the hands of the department to improve itself.

SP, Kamareddy, SDPOs and Circle Inspectors were also present during the review meeting along with SHOs of all police stations. As CCTNS enables review by all senior officers in the hierarchy Akun Sabharwal has guided the officers to use the system on a daily basis to have better control over investigations into various crimes.
