PM Modi To Visit UAE, Europe To Boost Strategic Partnerships

Hyderabad, May 15: Prime Minister NarendraModi will begin a multi nation visit on Friday covering the United Arab Emirates and several European countries to strengthen strategic, economic and diplomatic ties.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the Prime Minister’s first stop will be the UAE, where he will hold talks with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The discussions are expected to focus on bilateral cooperation, energy security, trade, investment and regional developments. The Ministry stated that both leaders will review the progress of the India UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which is supported by strong political, economic, cultural and people to people relations.

Official sources said energy security will remain one of the major focus areas during the visit.

India and the UAE are expected to sign important memorandums of understanding related to LPG cooperation and strategic petroleum reserves.

The UAE is currently India’s third largest trading partner and the seventh largest source of cumulative foreign investment over the last 25 years.

The visit is also significant due to the presence of more than 4.5 million Indians living and working in the UAE. Their welfare and employment opportunities are likely to figure prominently in the discussions.

MEA Secretary West Sibi George said the Prime Minister’s six day tour will also include visits to the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy.

During his visit to the Netherlands, Modi will meet King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Prime Minister Rob Jetten.

In Sweden, the Prime Minister will hold talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson in Gothenburg to review bilateral relations and explore new areas of cooperation.

Modi and Kristersson will also jointly address the European Round Table for Industry along with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The Prime Minister will then travel to Norway for the third India Nordic Summit and bilateral engagements with Nordic leaders.

In the final leg of the visit, Modi will reach Italy where he will meet President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Officials said the visit is aimed at strengthening India’s diplomatic outreach, expanding trade opportunities and deepening strategic cooperation with partner nations across the Gulf and Europe.
