Hyderabad, May 31: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Kumar Goud met AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge in Hyderabad on Sunday.
The meeting was held at a hotel near Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad. AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan was also present. Kharge was in Hyderabad during a stopover while travelling from New Delhi to Kalaburagi in Karnataka.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the leaders paid a courtesy call on the Congress president. However, party sources indicated that the meeting lasted for nearly one-and-a-half hours and included discussions on the current political situation in Telangana, party affairs, and key government programmes.
Focus on Employees’ Health Scheme
Meanwhile, the CMO announced that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will chair a review meeting on Monday regarding the implementation of the Telangana Employees’ Health Scheme, aimed at providing comprehensive health security to government employees and pensioners.
The scheme will be implemented through the Employee Health Care Trust. The proposed trust will consist of eight members, including six representatives from employee associations and two representatives from pensioners’ associations.
A serving state government employee will be appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the trust. The government is expected to formally announce the constitution of the committee on Monday.
Data Collection Underway
The process of collecting details of employees, pensioners, and their dependent family members has already begun. The Finance Department has directed all government departments to upload the required data by May 31.
Based on the information collected, the government plans to issue digital health cards and provide cashless treatment facilities to beneficiaries.
Over 17 Lakh Beneficiaries to Benefit
The Telangana Cabinet had approved the Employees’ Health Scheme on February 23. The programme is expected to cover approximately 3.56 lakh employees, 2.88 lakh pensioners, and their dependent family members, benefiting a total of 17.07 lakh people.
Under the scheme, beneficiaries will receive completely cashless treatment at all government hospitals and 652 empanelled private hospitals across the state. A total of 1,998 medical procedures will be covered.
Employees will contribute 1.5 percent of their basic salary towards the scheme, while the state government will make an equal contribution. The annual corpus of the trust is estimated at Rs 1,056 crore, with Rs 528 crore each contributed by employees and the government.
